hi

i got an old Hif44 from a metro turbo, confirmed by its FZX 1435 tag. I don't think its ever had a proper rebuild & as I've never seen it on a running car i wondered if anyone had any advice on how far i should rebuild it?
http://www.sucarb.co...ProductId=10557
these guys offer various kits for that carb and i've also been told i should replace the float if the carb is old?
currently i have the carb half stripped, but the internals still in place
there was still oil and fuel in the carb when i got it despite its age and no internal rust that i could see.

also from reading on here, the turbo hif44 is just a normal 44 with the seals reversed? so if i do a basic rebuild will a normal hif44 seals kit do the trick?
my car is a non turbo 1275.

Burlen fuels are the people to speak to, as u have the tag it should be straight forward to identify. Ive serviced a few of these and id recommend getting the complete kit to get it running spot on, its surprising how little things can make a difference i.e the needle valve seat :)
i think with the float it refers to a type which has the habbit of failing but i cant remember what type it is.

sorry i cant help with the turbo question, ive forgotten the answer although i should know :D

hi thanks i'll drop them a line. i'm not sure if i want to try do it myself or have a company do it at the moment.
so far i just painted the main body section matt black and cleaned it thoroughly.

i believe a turbo hiff44 rebuild kit will convert a NA to turbo but turbophil will be along shortly to justify hopefully

yes i'm hoping someone on here has a metro turbo engine and rebuilt the carb so could advise on which bits to swap out.
the full service kit with a needle and new spring would be over £60 whereas you can replace just the basics for 20 or so.
