Hello to you all,

My first Technical Post.
As you see from the title, I'm having a few Issues after fitting a K&N Filter to my '93 SPI Mini.
Followed the instructions and all looked well, however the car has stalled twice at traffic lights and is hesitant on acceleration.
It idled perfectly with the stock Air Box, but now when I fire it up it sounds irregular and laboured.
Thinking of sticking the Factory box back on unless you guys have any ideas as to what's causing it ?

Thankyou

check all the sensor connectors. The engine management on Minis is self adjusting, to compensate for deterioration between services etc , so it may learn to compensate if given a bit of time.

firstly - re check all vacuum pipes! And make sure the filter is on the correctly, i remember there isn't much of a lip to attach it too!

Also check the fuel trap, I had very similar symptoms after fitting the kn filter although the car was fine with the standard box.

Mine was stalling at junctions under hard braking and had a crazy erratic idle! I now have the fuel trap removed!

Thanks very much for the replys :)
Given me a few things to check, i.e havent pulled a vacuum hose loose or something.
That fuel trap, you mean the MAP Sensor ? What's its job supposed to be ? You say yours runs fine with it removed ?
Will give that a look, Cheers !

i just fitted one to mine the other day and it seems to be running fine. maybe one of your sensors got damaged or something? maybe try putting the old box on and see if it still works okay like that, if not maybe new sensor?

That fuel trap, you mean the MAP Sensor ?

Map sensor is in the ECU, the little black box on the manifold is a 'fuel trap' to stop fluids getting as far as the MAP sensor...
