There has been alot of conversations about harnesses lately however my question has not been answered.I apologise if it has been but i cant seem to find the straight answer...
CAn you secure the 3 point harness to the normal seat belt part on the c pillar. so i can have back seat passengers also is there some way in which i can have people in my back seat and be able to use 4 point harnesses?

Ithink its pretty much impossible to have harnesses and back seat passengers. If you have anything other than classic buckets its going to be a real struggle to get in the back anyway, if not nigh on impossible.

But to give you a straight answer, I would question the strength of the C pillar, although I think people have used that mounting point before. The best place is to use the rear seat belt point on the rear bulkhead bit, using spreader plates as well.

Nope, not really, you'll have the strap going right across where they would need to get in!

No.

The rear strap has to be at an angle which is 45degrees or less from the floor of the car and as straight as possible, and therefore can only be attatched directly to the bolt in the bottom corner of the rear seats.

The best way to attach harnesses is to a harness bar on a roll cage, but then that really would rule out the possibilty of having passengers in the back.

EDIT: I don't know what buckets you have, but there is a compromise. If you have harnesses that attach to eyelets then read on. Drill and thread one hole next to the seat belt bit on the exhaust tunnel, and another one by the front selt belt mount on the inner sill. Now you can have you harnesses when you don't have rear passengers, and by unclipping the harness from the eyelet you can swap over to using normal seat belts at the front for when you do have rear passengers. Its a fair bit of hassle, but its pretty much the only way you can do it.

hi i had this setup on my mk2 golf and i kept getting pulled over by the police because they could see the belt hanging and kept thinking that i wasnt wearing a seatbelt they actually told me to take one of the belts out (either the standard one or the harness) lol

slightly O/T but can 3 or 4 point harnesses be used with a normal pair of seats? i fancy chopping the rear bins and seat out of my car but i dont want to get rid of my recaro's.

can't see why not Bud666.

they might slip off the top though if there are no holes for the straps to go through. But if you had a headrest they will go through thre.
