Sprite 1275cc carb
1993
After speaking to a mechanic mate he suggested to clamp off the pipe to slave cylinder to see then if it was master cylinder at fault but access is impossible with out taking off lots!
Now my biting point is getting closer and closer to the floor and this is whats making it hard to engage gears as the clutch is not fully dis-engaging i think, i posted about gears last week.

Now he reckons either be the slave or the master, so with biting point getting closer to floor is it possible to know which is at fault?

Have you bled the clutch? Did much/any air come out?

Had this on my old mini, had to keep bleeding it to keep on top of it as a seal was going in the master cylinder. I guess it could be either slave or master without checking though.

Mine had a very similar problem, there was no pressure in the clutch to change the gears, especially when first starting the car.
Turns out it was the clutch slave cylinder leaking, changed it and now is perfect, the clutch pedal is stronger than ever.
Hope this helps.

The slave cylinder is usually the one that leaks, cheaper and easier to just replace the seals in the slave first, if it still does it then start looking at the master.

Thanks for feedback guys, garage said it was mostly old fluid air but slave might be on its way out, so once i start noticing it getting closer to floor will order a new slave cylinder and maybe have
a go fitting myself!
