1971 Austin Mini - 1380 Stage 2 with an 1" 3/4 Hiff Carb built by Jonspeed, 11 blade fan. I believe the car still has the stock radiator as I purchased it about 3 weeks ago.

There are two different size China made aluminum radiators on ebay that i'm looking at.

Larger
Core size: H270mm×W 258mm×T50mm (H10-5/8"×W10-1/8" ×T2")
Overall Size(in) approx: (H14-1/8"× W10-5/8"×3-1/4") H359mm×W270mm×T83mm
Inlet/Outlet: 25mm / 25mm

Smaller
Core size: H270mm×W 258mm×T42mm (H10-5/8"×W10-1/8" ×T1-5/8")
Overall Size(in) approx: (H14-1/8"× W10-5/8"×2") H359mm×W270mm×T51mm
Inlet/Outlet: 25mm / 25mm

The smaller one is $50 cheaper, but would it even be worth it in the first place since the core is 3/8" smaller?

Or is the smaller radiator designed for use with the "tropical fan"? (Which I have been thinking about getting to help with cooling)

Personally I'd go fo the bigger one. The smaller one might be ok, but no-one on here will(should) take the responsibility of advising it'll be ok.

i've got the 42mm one and its very efficient. :D

the standard minispares 2-core rad is 42mm, and i believe all 3-core are aswell. although i did buy a cheap get you home 2-core from a show and it was only 25mm

That 42mm ones looks the same as one i've recently got from china. Much more like the right size when compared to a standard rad, and is more similar in design.

I'd go for the 42mm.
