1990 mini checkmate 998cc

No driving lamps or extras.

It would appear I need a new battery as the existing one is not taking a charge after the long layoff.

What spec should I go for and where is best to buy from?

Could do with one with a handle if poss to make it easier to get in/out.

Cheers

the one I use, with big sound system, is a peugeot 306 diesel battery. Never let me down! and fits straight into the battery box.

065 and 075 batterys fill the battery area snug.

I sell/supply these across the north east to mini owners when they approach me for batteries.

Do these come with carry handles? Small point but I struggle with my old fingers!

Had a look on halfords site;-

HB038 - Std Mini £49.99
HB015 - HD Mini £72.99
Pug 306D - HB013 £90 This is what came up when I put Pug 306 diesel in.

HB075?

Quite a bit of difference there.

Only on a trade card mate.
normally a bit more than that, more like 70-80

IF buying from halfords, 038 is the standard and would be pefectly capable for your needs, but has no carry handel.
A 063 is arround similar power, and does have a handel.

Everything everyone else said is also great advice.

Jezzz,

Right, you DON'T need a Pug one. I had a 370 and 350amp generic from local shop battery. Both have worked fine, both have never died, exploded or done anything OTHER than start the car.

Both cost about £30, only reason I have two is I left my lights on one day and swapped mine out for my mum's 350watt from her then dead car.

You really don't need to go splurging close to £100 on one for a regular car.
