Model: Rover Mini Sprite 1275
Year: 1992
Description of problem (please be as in depth as possible):
It seems that my headlight steams or smokes from time to time, has anyone else noticed this? It's usually very slight/vague mist.
What could be causing this?

It's usually condensation or dampness evaporating off as the light heats upModel: Rover Mini Sprite 1275

I vaguely remeber my halogens doing it when it is raining.

Usually? I've seen it happen after long drives on days or weeks without rain or going through puddles

Depends exactly where the mist is coming from, but could well be a sign of a build up of rain soaked dirt & debris behind the headlamp bowl. The steam/mist being the rain water evaporating due to the heat generated by the headlamp. Doesn't tend to happen to the near side so much, as kerbside puddles tend to wash the dirt away more effectively. If I were you, then I would get the off side front wheel off and get your hand up behind there to find out. If it is a build up road dirt you need to get it out as soon as possible, so that it doesn't rot your off side wing out over the winter. I have the same model on a 93 plate and recently fitted wing liner/splash guards to stop exactly that happening.
