Hey Guys, im new to this forum and I was planning on going to the "newbie" area to introduce myself untill i found a problem with my mini and i figured why not introduce myself and ask the experts on how to fix it :D

Right so to the problem, i recently bought a Mini city e with the intentions of restoring it. And whilst i was doing some work on the front end of the car my dad (as they do) proceeded to poke all the areas of rust with a big screwdriver and when he took the back bumper off the right side basically fell away without the need to undo the bolt, therefore the whole of the right side and partially the left side of the lip which the bumper sits on has rotted away and there is a big hole.
Also the area above this and to the right has a hole in which goes through to the boot. :D

I was wondering what would be the best way in which to sort this as i have no intention of putting the bumper back on? And would it be ok to fill in the hole to the boot with fiberglass moulding? :)

Your help would be much appreciated guys.

Thanks Scott

Hi and welcome to the forum, please dont use fiberglass to repair the corroded area as this will just hide the problem for a short while, i have a similar problem with my new purchase and intend to put in either a repair panel or a full boot floor panel.

This is a link to the repair panel http://www.minispare...ty=pb&pid=32728 also i would un-bolt the fuel tank and have a look under their as this is also a problem area.

all the best

Steve

Hey mate I had the Same problem the good news is a rear valance is really cheap but the bad news is if the rot is on the boot hinge panel they are expensive. Mine was just on the lip so i decided to cut it off an have a smooth rear end depends on what look you like though. Also the corner closing panels tend to rot out if you have a leaky boot seal. post a pic if you can then people can advise you. Hope this helps.

By the sounds of it you will need this panel off Minispares MS20 or there is a complete replacement lower section from Somerford which is not cheap but it is the complete lower section HMP441009.

Alternatively you could like me cut out the damaged section and fabricate new pieces. Admittedly i changed the complete boot floor and valance but i manufactured the complete lip in 3 sections and also chopped out some of the lower sections of the boot hinge panel.
