I do not know much about welding metals, so can you weld stainless steel and can that be welded to mild steel or any other metal.

Yes, but there are different grades & blends. The chances are it will weld well enough with ordinary mild steel wire. It might be worth approaching a professional welder if it's something critical. Cast iron & non ferrous (obviously) don't weld with mild steel kit.

yes you can but if you don't use stainless steel wire then the weld and eventually the stainless steel itself will rust but it is perfectly easy to do

there was a bloke in one of the mini mags a few years ago that used the double draining boards from stainless steel sinks to make himself a new rust proof floor for his mini!

i think he used heritage, scoured (no pun intended) all the car boot sales for them sinks lol he even made an engine breather from 2 stainless steel egg cups welded together and holes drilled, with a clean (no soap) brillo pad in the middle! he was abit of a "that doesn't work as well as id like, ill make a better 1" kinda guy, fairly old to, in his late 60s if i recall correct!

If that works, does sort of make you wonder why no one makes a stainless full floor pan?

Then again, they'd do themselves out of business in the long run.
