hi guys
i am trying to fit new front wheel bearings on my 1994 mayfair
i have had to remove the lower arm to get the hub off because the ball joint pin is stuck in it and i cant separate it.
any tips?
the rubber dust cover has ripped off while i was trying to separate it am i best just leaving it and letting it gradually wear out?
will it pass mot without a rubber dust cover?
or do i knack it to get it separated and then replace it? or is it easier to cut the lower arm off it and replace that?

not sure what the best plan is

think i follow that are you saying that with the nut on the end of the pin loose the weight of the car will pull the pin out of the lower arm ?

You need a ball joint splitter like this (expensive) one: http://minispares.co...ty=pb&pid=36236 you can probably find a cheaper one elsewhere

Another method is to whack the bottom arm with a hammer to try and break it free

just get as much pressure as you can on it and just try and hit it as hard as you can your best with a sissor one just have to keep at it it will come or you might have to get some heat to it but then it will need to be replaced

dust cover is not a reason to fail mot. advice only . but better to replace it
