Attempted to get a new drivers inertia seat belt for my brothers 1986 mini and picked up a set in the same strange colour from Castle Combe, however,on fitting,it's found that they only work when the reel is on the tilt and not when they are level. Any idea what model these have come out of,I thought they all fitted level in the rear bins but obviously not. Dont know what colour they are,not black, grey or brown, more like a concoction of all three. Any thoughts appreciated.

Buy you want the inertia system to allow the reel to unreel when stationary, which it wont unless the reel is fitted at an angle, not a normal level fitting position.Sorry,I didn't make it clear in my description.

I'd go along with that. The later cars had the rear belt reel in the rear of the pocket. Because it was on the rear arch, it was angled. The webbing then went up over the seat to the loop on the rear pillar.

Did the belt come with a matched 'stalk'? If not, I wouldn't recommend using it anyway. Different manufacturers use different latching mechanisms.
