In the middle of a front brake conversion using mark 1 fiesta parts and need some brake pad fixing parts; the clips and so on theat hold the pads on the caliper. I have drawn a blank in the usual sources (ebay, local factors, Ford themselves, even halfords) but have not been able to find the right bits.
Is there the equivalent of MiniSpares for old Fords? Where have the guys on here been sourcing spares for the conversion?

Above has posted a good place for odd parts. It is a pain finding some parts for cars.I only used the M.G. Metro parts and Alloys on my last build. The discs worked well. :-

I had my Fiesta calipers (I can't remember if mine are Mk1 or Mk2) refurbished by Bigg Red Calipers and they were able to replace the little bit of bent wire that clips into the front of the calipers that secure the brake pad.

Not the best pic...

If its the strong wire spring clips they are made from Piano wire you can make them.

Won't a local breakers yard have them? I'm sure that, back in the day, some of the replacement pads used to have the retaining springs as part of the kit. I'm amazed that Ford don't do them though. They're used on loads of the older callipers, albeit in various sizes.

Thanks for the replies :D
Tried the jrt website but they don't seem to do Ford bits.

Pooky: Looks like a mk2 setup. On mine the caliper doesn't bolt to the carrier bracket, seems to just be held in with some clips. Since I'm missing most of those I'm not sure quite how it all goes together :P I will try Bigg Red though.

Matt: Not many mk1 Fiestas in yards from what I've seen.

I have bought a set of pads and the factors did have a fitting kit, however that only looked like the clips to hold the pads in place. What I need are the parts to mount the caliper to the guide bracket.

ive done the mk1 fiestia conversion, and i know what bit your on about,
the caliper sits inside the carrier and then there are 2 little 'wedges' that slide inbetween the gap,

if your struggling to find them then the only thing i can think of if speaking to a machine shop.
do you have any left?
pm me if you need measurements ect

Thats exactly the bit I need >_< I have one but I'm not sure if the other three are the same or if they're handed at all.
I'm also missing the big clips (about two inches long) that seem to fit into the caliper bracket and I assume hole the caliper in, only got two.
Do you have any pics of the conversion?

I have a Mk1 Fiesta, and about 2 months ago, managed to get some from the local Ford garage, they may have some in another branch? May be worth a shot >_<
