check all the engine earths, the main one being by the top engine stay. does the engine turn over fairly easy by spanner. might be worth making sure all the connectors on the started solinid are corrosion free. the wire would be getting hot because the starter is drawing too much current. do you have a spare stater motor.
im not a mechanic but worth checking these things first.
be pateint someone with more knowledge will answer your question

Hey there. wires only get hot if too much current is being drawn though. most of the time if its factory wiring then its got a short somewhere. The vid shows the wire going to the starter motor yes? (if no, could a picture of each end of the wire be given) Now does the engine turn over at all when cranking?

If No, I rekon that the starter has had it, try turning the engine over by hand and checking the earth wires like haggz said.
If no and the motor wont turn by hand, then its locked somehow, either hydraulic, mechanical or siezed :S

If yes, is it slow or normal
- slow, check for corrosion at the wire ends that would put up resistance and clean if necessary including the earths.
- fast, the wire most likely has broken strands inside somewhere so it needs to draw more current to work and thus heat.

Hope this helps, I am a mechanic but Have stuff all experience on minis lol, good luck :-

take spark plugs out first. dont mix up leads. this will make engine have no compression. you should be able to put a spanner or just grip the bottom pulley and turn it.
if this fails, try a socket or spanner on alternator pulley bolt, push down on fan belt ( dont trap your fingers) and turn with spanner or ratchet.
