not the most important topic of the day i know, but this is winding me up...
I bought a "universal fitting " gear knob from one of the stalls at the miniworld action day last weekend, and the so called 'universal fitting' is a bit questionable.
This thing has a hole the size of the channel tunnel to fit over the end of the gearstick...I have two minis, both with different sized gear sticks and this thing is a bit of a joke. Is there such a thing as a rubber lining that i could slip inside this gear knob which then would fill the huge gap around it.
The gear knob has a grub screw in it, which the chap at the stall said this will allow it to fit any gear stick...
thnx.

Maybe a bit of neoprene tubing? Or wrap a the end of the stick, or unc bolt, in ptfe plumbers tape/ clingfilm and squidge it in to the hole filled with epoxy.

Try a bit of rubber tube, like petrol pipe... that's what I use to put down the hole in snooker balls to help grip.... but the problem with 'universal fit' gearknobs are they are not designed to fit any particular stick therefore the fit will always be a compromise..
And no matter what the trader said, those with the grub screw are crap for minis, as they will eventually slide up and fall off... best option is, if you want to use the knob is to araldite it on for good.
