Hey all, sorry if this is in the wrong thread.

Our engine is hopefully being pump in this weekend so we need to start thinking about an exhaust system. I have heard alot of people saying that the RC40 LCB maniford is the best? Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

We are running a 1275, bored to 60+, 266 Kent Camshaft, Twin 1.5" HS4 Carb. What is the best system to get? Wanted to have a dual exit exhaust, will this make any difference in performance?

the dual exit will probably decrease performance, the best exhaust would be a Maniflow LCB and a maniflow rear silencer of size 1.75" (single exit) for maximum performance, or an RC40 rear silencer would be ok too, of the same size, but IMO Maniflow are the best and I would get a full system from them.

Cool, how much will I be looking for a full system, manifold & silencer?

I reacently got a RC40 Side exit single back box £27 and a link pipe £12.50 from minispares, fitted but no idea on effect on performance on my 1275 with LCB manifold, but it does sound all right for a single box.

i have had the same stainless steel RC 40 single box system fitted tomy mini for over 15 years

gone through 2 maniflow LCB manifolds in that time

My RC40 complete LCB/twin box system is one of the originals. its been on several of my cars since i was a kid and still as good as new. No i wont tell you how old i am but the system is older than most peoples Mini's on here!

Would it be pointless if I had a Maniflow manifold with a dual exhaust backbox. Want the look of an exhaust either side but dont want to lose any performance.

A twin outlet exhaust is just about the worse thing you can do to the exhaust in terms of power. You will lose quite a few bhp unless you run a single pipe with the same diameter all the way from the end of the manifold to the final outlet point. You have to decide what is more important - he actual performance or a perceived 'look'. The exhaust pipe after the back silencer box must be the same diameter to keep the gas velocity the same as in the main pipe, or else the gas velocity will decrease and the gas pressure in the pipe(s) will increase.
The best exhaust for performance are the Maniflow or the RC20 with a single pipe and a centre-exit - all 1.75" internal diameter

+1 for the Maniflow.

Fitted an LCB and twin box 1.75 to my 998, (not ideal but 1275 being built for next year).

Good quality, fit was perfect with no messing about and the "look" and sound, (for me at least) is spot on.

If the twin box look is what you are after, go for it, it's your car after all, but take a moment to think that you have just spent a substantial sum on your new engine and you may be risking spoiling its potential.

Good luck

I'm sorry, I know this is completely off the topic, but I LOVE the fog light mounted into the boot lid!

Im looking at getting a maniflow to after the seem to be recommended lots. Im only after from the cat-back for my 1275cc sprite (HIF 38). I want a centre exit single silencer and have emailed them
and they recommended which one and it was about £86 i think which is good value.
Anyone have any pics of a centre exit, why are they painted green? are they all stainless steel?
What would be best bore size for my stock 1275cc?
Also will it run fine with this set up with out doing any damage running lean etc?
Am i right in thinking the centre exit will bolt in to existing holes on rear subframe and hang on existing front mount?

Yeah that is a good price,

no they are not all stainless steel (but you can get stainless steel but obvioulsy it will cost you more), and i think thats why they are painted green, and the best bore size will be a 1.75" for performance, im not sure about the carb set up as i don't have a carb sorry, but i think you may have to drill holes in the rear subframe but im not too sure and would like to know myself as i am goin to be gettin a centre exit as well :(

i have just fitted a complete maniflow system with the twin exhausts (one either side) and it doesnt feel like i have lost any power at all. i asked maniflow to build me a one off and they did, from looking at the back box it basically looks like a twin exhaust thats been extended and bent. will be haaving another set up soon so will find out if i have lost any bhp, it did have 90 before.
