Start with a minispares or minisport Stage 1 kit, which consists of..Inlet manifold, exhaust LCB, RC40 Exhaust System, Air filter and carb spring & Needle. 20% power increase for less than £180. Then you can start mucking around with cams and gearboxes Etc lol after you have fitted it :(

step by step, build up from the stage 1 kit, maybe a 12g295 head on a pocketed block?, cam, crank, rockershaft, metty turbo? :(

you only need to pocket the block when you use a 12g940 head the 12g295 might need skimming to get the correct compresion ratios also may need hardened valve seats if you want to stay unleaded the best things to do on a 998 is 1st stage1 kit as said above then head/cam both really as they are the biggest restrictions

Get a cooper freeflow manifold for a 998 its better then the LCB, although i think if you get a 998 kit from minispares thats what you get.

Then yeah a new cylinder head and cam, i wouldn't bother with new higher lifting rockers on a 998 you won't see much benefit you'd see more from a decent high lift camshaft.
