hi there i got a 1986 mini city im puting in a 998 mini metro engine in and im new to all this where do the pipes go can any one tell me plezzzzzzzzzzzzzzz im stuck or any pic would be great i doint a have a water tap i got a in line one i think on goes on the bottom rad hose ???

The inline type of heater valve goes in the heater hose to the bottom hose heater branch off point.
The other heater hose goes to left side of head but on a Metro engine you have to drill out the blanked off part of the head casting as the metro used a special thermostat housing which was also used on late Minis I think. The two stud holes for the Mini hose connector are usually there.

Water Valves
The traditional cylinder head mounted water valve was dispensed with when the heater hose system was redesigned in 1988 to make way for the brake servo. In its place an in-line water valve was inserted in one of the heater hoses (inlet or outlet hose, depending on model) on the engine bay side of the dash assembly. However, by the introduction of multi point injection in 1997 the engine bay was so crowded that the water valve was relocated to the interior of the car (at least it didn't end up in the boot, like the windscreen washer bottle a year or two before!)
