Hi, I'm looking to buy new tools and I'm not sure if I should get metric or AF sockets? My car is a Rover Mini cooper 1993.
Cheers

You will require IMPERIAL tools and some metric... AF means Across Flats which applies to both Metric and Imperial.

AF was still by far the most common fastners used even on the later Rover models. Some metric did creep in to a small number of areas but I'd invest in AF first

I have a '93 and I can confirm that it's a mix up of imperial and metric, and you never know what a pervious owner has replaced, what with imperial fixings being rare to find new.
Don't forget those mini essential sockets 1" 5/16 (34mm I think)
Front castle nut and steering wheel.
and the big-un 1 1.5" deep socket for Swivel Pin Cups.
BIG IRON BAR, for persuading things in and out.
(please correct me if i'm wrong)
