Hey Guys and Gals,

It's pretty obviously that the sales of previous calendars prove that it has been too expensive.

But, there has been no way around this - as it has been that cost (£12ish) to cover the printing costs for individual calendars. We have had to have it printed as individual units becuase we can't guarantee sales for a pre-sales print run of say 50 calendars. Pre-sales printing has been done in the past, but a large majority of people who put there name down for a calendar didn't actually buy one - meaning the forum lost a lot of money.

So as I now start to look around for costs, I can't simply say put your name down - as the forum has previously found out that this does not work.

Anyway, I may have found a printers that will print less than the usual minimum number of units. So, the question is...

At what cost would you actually consider buying it?

Yes this is a poll - but please also voice your input below :shifty: Also don't simply all vote for £5, if you would buy the calendar if it was £50, say so!!

Cheers
Roberts

EDIT: spelling

anythng up to £10 and im pretty sure i will buy one but cant you do a group buy where people pay up then you get them printed if this could make it cheaper rather than geting them printed then getting the money (or not) off people who say they will have one

Edit: typo

The problem is at what cost do you do a group buy?

Because if we don't get enough people to buy the group buy you have to either ask for more money to make the difference up, refund everyone, or, loose money.

i suppose one way would be to say you have to put your name down by a certain date so you know the numbers then also give a date that they must pay by but then once again its if people dont pay up the price will go up. it was just an idea but thinking about it a bit more it might not work and sounds as if you have already thought about this already aswell

Edit: just to let you know i hit the wrong one when i voted i pu0t the £12 option when i meant to put the £10 option and dont know how to change it haha

thats fair enough but the only reason i have a calender is because it was free with something i would have brought anyway,
i never use calenders, in the traditional sense not since i can sync my phone the calender on my laptop.

i dont even think ive changed the month on my proper calender since july.

if you made a big poster with the 12 winners on it, that people could put up in their garages that might work??
or the same idea as a student wall calender with the 12 winners in the back ground with the calender (a 12 month one) printed over the top??

hope they make sense?

It's tricky isn't it. I'm just thinking that maybe you could try to get some idea of numbers, even if it's just a rough idea. So, say you asked who is intending to definitely buy, then even if you halve it and assume 50% drop out, it gives you a start?

I, for one, know for sure that I will be buying one, provided they are under £12.

Yeah already crossed my mind - but that's why I've created this topic to get the ideas of others, fingers crossed something comes up.

I was thinking of once I have a few costs for say runs of 50, working out a price and set up a 'deposit' payment - which is none-refundable. That was if we get 50 great, if we get 30 we charge a little more to make up the difference - it's a none-refundable deposit though and people will moan if the calendar doubles in price. So can't really ask for it.

Maker perfect sense - and all good points, but the bigger the printing the bigger the cost. A high quality A2/A1 wall calendar will be £20+ for the numbers we are talking about.

Also something that has crossed my mind and was actually going to do after this thread :shifty: you would hope that half the people who put there name down actually wanted one - but it's still risky.

I'd pay owt up to £10 for one.

Most other calenders you buy from the high street shops seem to come in at between £6.99 and £9.99 depending on the quality.

Obviously the TMF calender is of top quality so £10 would be a fair price I reckon.

The Minimag freebie is OK but, you can tell it comes for nowt though.

Well this years will be either an A4 or A3 (fingers crossed A3) page with the image at the top and the calendar at the bottom, like the image below - so it can become posters

I hadn't thought that it could make people think "oo posters" - so bonus!!
