arent both of those naughty? If someone is reshelling their car the identication can be transferred over I believe. if not, ive seen log books for sale at shows. Im not to sure about the whole situation but i got the shell with no identication.

well I can't see a problem with it, but it is illegal, only using a heratige shell is legal. In my eyes, there cant be anything bad about reshelling. If its ilegal then how come you can buy brand new shells from bmh like I did?

If you RESHELL a car with a NEW identical body, then the DVLA will accept that the car is still the same. You need a receipt that shows that it is new. It will not accept that is the case if the shell is second hand.
Before anyone does anything that they regret later, the VOSA AND DVLA websites are pretty good and also have a free help line where you can ask questions.
When i say regret, I do not believe that there's anything immoral in buying a second hand shell that's better than the one you have and swapping over the identies, but it's technically illegal, worse if the identity allows free car tax, becuase that suggests tax avoidance and worst case the DVLA can and Will crush the whole car.
