Electrical Problems Alternator/battery

battery will not stay charged

mk1 mini
with s wire harness not sure if this helps or not

battery died so i just figured it was the battery so i bought a new one. lasted a little while then it also died then i figured it was the alternator so i bought a new 70 amp and still died???

im not good with electrical stuff so any help at all would be great, thanks

Have you checked the earth straps from the engine to the inner wing and in the boot from the boot floor to the battery? Not sure about the mk 1 but on later models they are a braided metal strap that are prone to breaking down over time (particularly if moved/disturbed). If they are in a poor condition they will result in ineffective charging, dispite replacement of the battery and alternator. If they are at all worn then I would replace them to at least rule them out as the culprit, some people even replace them with a more modern plastic coated earth strap, to prevent a reoccurance.
