1991 studio2 I'd like to remove the doors but i'm unable to undo the allen bolts due to being very tight. is this the only way of getting the doors off? Thanks

The door hinges should have nylock nuts on them which can be reached inside the wheel arch. Keep the door closed until all 4 nuts are off then carefully open the door to get a good grip before pulling it slowly out of position.

7/16" socket and extension access under front wheel arch.

2 studs per hinge (4 in total) soak them with plusgas or simmilar before you try to undo them, the studs can snap if the nuts are tight.

Just done this on my 95 Sidewalk. Tried soaking with penetrating fluid and wire brushing but i still managed to break 3 studs on the one side.
It was easy enough sorted as i found out that the original studs are a metric 6 thread. Ground off the blob of factory weld and the studs just screwed out.
Refitted new studs and rewelded them.

Before you get all the nuts off, get the pin out of the door check strap as it's much easier with the door still bolted to the car :)

Are you sure they are M6? They should be 1/4" UNF.

It generally works a treat when you resort to doing things the proper way! :) :)

I had to cut my 1973 nuts off with an angle grinder and buy new hinges...

As said, make sure you take the check strap off first and if the nuts under the wing are tight I always use a bit of heat to make sure they dont snap, bumper nuts and bonnet hinge nuts are prone to snapping too

aaaaaaaand if you have any door shims fitted, put them back on the doors once you've removed them so the door will line up properly when you go to put it back on! :)
