i bought one of these cheap metal "display" model, its about 1-10th scale and i offered it up to an old rc chassis i have (which is also a mini..) and it near enough matched the wheel base, so set about chopping the unneeded bits out, and trimming the arches etc to get it to fit... it will be nitro powered when finished, and it saves bashing up a plastic shell, and it also looks pretty cool.... here are a few pics of it sitting on the chassis for test fit..

if i do end up crashing it, i just have to do some panel beating etc, or i could just drive it around dents and all, keep it looking like a barn find mini! it even has an exhaust for the nitro fumes to come out the back like a proper car! gotta get a donor nitro car for its motor and servos etc gonna try get a big motor nitro car so gives it plenty of welly to make up for the heavier steel body

Is that an early tamiya chassis, looks like it's from a Lamborghini Countach?
does it have fixed metal front wish bones? If so the CS special version,
Recon you might struggle to fit all the nitro bits in, if it is there 1/12th scale chassis's, would stick a lecky motor and some gear in it, and watch it fly....

Whats the setup going to be? MF / MR / RR? (Engine position/wheel drive)

it will be M/R, should go well, and means i can drift it around abit too! i think the donor im waiting on is 4wd, but jus means ill disconnect the front prop shaft and only have it running rwd.

gonna make up some small fibreglass arches too, make it look like a proper mini!

hopefully the donor will arrive in the next few days, so can begin to mount all the running gear, and finish the shell prep and makign the wheel arches etc... cant wait to see it wizzing around with the exhaust puffing smoke out the back! might even look into gettin other tin plate models for the shells (vw camper, beetle etc etc)
