Hi all, just wondered if anyone knows if a 24 tooth top gear, 24 tooth middle gear and 30 or 31 tooth bottom gear as arranged on the gearbox is the 1:1 standard drop/transfer gear ratio? The reason i ask is because the person selling them hasn't really stated what the ratio is and hopefully someone on here can help me out.

Thanks, Evan.

the idler doesn't affect the ratio. the primary and input gears should have the same teeth for 1:1, so 24:24 is..... :D

Ah right that makes sense :D
but what about 23/23 gears, i thought that a 24/24 gave a different ratio to 23/23?

23:23 is slightly smaller than 1:1 :D

23:23 IS 1:1!

the most common are 24:24 or 24:23 which gives a slight raise of 1.04:1, so yeah, 24:24 is fine.
