Most likely be flame red. Which is code COF. You not have an identity plate in your engine bay somewhere? Mines on the drivers side inner wing.

Agreed, the last Red Sprite we painted was indeed Paint Code COF, but as Ministar states check the ID plate

*cough*

Flame Red '89 or Modena red IIRC.

Basically, I think the shade of red varied on how bored/creative the paint mixer was at Rover at the time.

I've stuck two original "COF" cars next to each other and observed massive differences in shade and pigment, and not just from UV damage and fading, actually a different shade of red on each car, and some of the COF Coopers are even more orange than red.

Not scientific I know... Paint match from the inner doors is what I'd do, unless completely respraying.

hi guys

many thanks for your replys. I think with red even a photo is ahrd to define. I was just wandering what the standard colour for a red sprite of that period would have had from the factory.

I will investigate further and post up pics of the painting.

Cheers Again

Paint code - COF

That will be damn close, I was just being picky about the differences in workmanship of that period.

(Edit - when I mean damn close, I should point out that that is the factory paint code for Red Sprites of the 90's)
