1430 is a 1380 bore, which has a modified crank to increase the stroke (how far down the bore the piston travels), thus increasing ccs.
aaaaa brilliant, thanks, just coundnt wrap my brain around it lol.

on a stroked crank, does the piston not rise the same distace as down and so would need a skim off the top of the piston to stop it rising past the block surface?? how would that effect the piston action or would it??
sorry im not hijacking the thread but just trying to get more info on the topic for us....

it's a handgrenade with the pin out though...

Lots of torque and power......untill it goes bang!!! I wonder if thats why no one builds them??? Well not many anyway...1425 uses a 74.7mm piston. can be stroked to 1595cc.
it's a handgrenade with the pin out though...

i understand about the rebore and stroke and would that be an 81mm stroke then.... could you put an 1100 crank into a 998 to increase the stroke or does it not work like that??

1100 engines ARE 998's with a stroked crank. They're the same block, different crankshaft.

who wants to explain what boring is?
It's the machining of the cylinder walls to increase their diameter and therefore overall displacement.
