Thanks for the quick reply! Just to say, switched live is what i'm looking for. When you say 3rd fuse down, do you mean the 3rd fuse down in the fusebox on the bulkhead?

Thanks again

Yep third fuse down as you look at it straight on

Posted Image

So from top to bottom its 35, 25, 25 and 15amp

Each end of the fuse holder is numbered 1 to 8 so top fuse is 1 and 2, second one down is 3 and 4 etc but its referred to as the four fuse block layout

Your car is already wired for a tacho. If it wasn't built with one, the wires are taped back to the wiring loom behind the dash.

Use the third one down (switched live) the green with orange trace in my pic is the standard usage for rev counters, as Dan said its sitting behind your dash already along with a white with black trace bullet connector if the wiring has been untouched

thanks guys, well initially i made a wire and connected it to an empty spade terminal on the third fuse down (switched live) the rest (guage to negative coil etc) and earthed. but the gauge only works when i flick it or tap it? can't understand what that means, i bought the gauge as recondtioned from 'the gauge shop' online, but could this mean at all i have a faulty earth perhaps?

thanks everyone for your help, i'll try and find the green cable with orange trace, connect that up and see if anything improves!
