i recently joined my local motor club with the intension of doing 12 car rallies, night rallies etc and auto tests. so what should i do to prep my car, already know all the stuff like keep the car in tip top condition. im currently on running the fuel and brake lines throught the inside of the car with battery isolator and fuel cut off, ive also got bucket seats harnesses. ive been looking at sump gaurds and skidding my exhaust, so have i missed much?

Make sure the braking system is in tip-top condition and fit competition brake pads. Renew the brake fluid. If you have 8.4" discs the pads to get are the F7 from Questmead (see their web site).
You also need to ensure that the exhaust is not too noisy or you won't be allowed to start. Bolt it on securely as well. For night events get some good spotlights. Raise the ride height a bit and fit decent adjustable dampers. Fit a better clutch plate. Ensure the suspension is correctly set. Use the best tyres you can find.
Send me a personal email if you want a detailed build sheet and specification for a rally Mini.

all the braking system is less than 2 years old, the car runs 7.5 cooper s setup with green stuff pads. the exhaust isnt particurlaly noisy, ive got h4 cibie hallogen headlights and high mounted cibie oscar spot lights with 100watt bulbs. the ride height is standard with 2degree negative camber bottom arms and spax 16 point adjustables, tyre wise im currently using 145/80/10 falkens on dunlop alloys. heres a current pic anyhow

also going to fit some big rubber mudflaps to prevent damage to the sills and body work

Oh it WILL get damaged - don't worry about that! The 100 watt bulbs are illegal on the highway - be aware Cops know when rallies are on - and it's not unknown for them to stop and inspect....... So keep it absolutely legal. Your tyres are a bit narrow....... The exhaust must be QUIET - not just 'not particularly noisy' - and you must strengthen and skid it throughout, and tab all the joints together so it can't pull off - the car will be leaning on it when pounding up '3 ply' roads. Fit a roll cage for your health and an oil cooler for the engine's health. Don't forget to protect the brake pipes where they run into the rear wheel cylinders! And of course you should fire-proof the front and rear bulkheads - even if that's not required by the regs. Good idea to fit Aeon bump stops front and rear too- after you have raised the suspension.

ive also got those progressive competion bump stops alround,
and thanks the car is quite nice it took ALOT of work to get it how i like it and im abit weiry about rallying it, thats why im doing road/night rallies instead of stage rallies, the car is to good to do serious competion the only pannels that have been replaced is the wings front pannel a pannels and outer sills and there isnt a spec of rust on it. but hey its there to be driven
