Hi

I'm just about ready to start putting my speakers in but I've been trying to decide on the best location.
I'm not very keen on the speaker pods that mount under the dash rail and I'm not planning to have a dashboard.
So the only option I can see left is getting some door pockets that also house speakers.

These seem quite good, has anybody got any?
Would be nice to hear some opionions on them please.

NOOO!! Don't go wasting your money on those!!

I made my own! I had a pair of original door pockets and also a pair of speaker pods.

I just marked out the area i needed to cut out of the standard pocket to make the pod fit and then fixed the two together using some fiberglass resin and a glue gun.

Then sent off the new pockets to ReaperWorx to get flocked.

Saved myself about £20 and its so much more satisfying doing it yourself!

I took the easy option and brought some of those door pockets. By the time you've bought the materials and tools to make your own it will probably cost the same amount. They were easy to fit and use the existing holes in the door. I got the basic versions without the pudle lights and added some extra trim which is avaliable at any motor spares store.

Hi,

Can you show a pic of how you connected the speaker cable please and where you ran it..

Ive got the same door pockets, but I have the ones with the build in LED lights (2 white LED's and a red one). Ive wired them to the interior courstesy light, but the LED's are not as bright as I expected..

Thanks!

Right, ive fixed the Bolt on Bits custom door pockets lights. I replaced all the cabling - and found the dim-ness was due to a bad earth.

Ive wired the white puddle light and red external door light to the courstesy switch (so they come on when the doors are opened), and have installed a simple very small rocker switch in the side of the pocket so I can manually turn the white internal door pocket light on and off at I need to..

If anyone wants to see how I did it, would be happy to post pictures...

I drilled some holes in the door and door post and used some rubber concertinas from a Mark 2/3 Capri. I used a 90 degree chuck on the drill for the holes in the doors as I didn't want to remove the doors.
