Whenever I turn the heater blower on, I get this god-awful squealing noise from the motor. It still works perfectly but the noise is a tad distracting to say the least. Obviously its a rotating part of the blower thats causing the noise but has anyone got any idea as to which part, and what best to lubricate it with.

ta in advance

Mike

It's probably got something stuck in it.

Funny thing is, when I was originally putting the car back together I stripped the heater down and cleaned it out due to it making this noise. There was nothing in there from what I could see and I couldnt get the motor to make the noise when testing it on the bench. It has come and gone since then but now it is back with a real vengance. Ill have to have a more thorough look maybe I missed something last time.

I took mine apart today and there was lots of little stones inside. Sprayed Carb cleaner on the bearings and Commutator, wiped up the excess, and I now have a working and quiet(ish) fan.

Budget 2 hours and BACK ache.

Mine makes this noise.

After a while the squealing goes away, still a loud fan by todays standards.

I put it down to the type of bearing in the fan, and the fact that its an old heater.

The fan probably needs lubricating.
