Secondly, I didn't actually call anyone anything, at least not directly. I was throwing in a little harsh reality, it could have been said with a few more words but at the end of the day it would have had a different impact; not the one I was after.
Lastly, if you take into account three things: the price of road tax, the percentage of cars damaged by potholes and the percentage of owners of aforementioned cars that are aware of the fact that their repair costs can be refunded, I doubt the government would be too out of pocket.
The hardest part is proving that the pot hole did the damage but I don't see why you wouldn't try.
(Just to say, I have no hard figures for my above three points. I know road tax varies from £0 to over £400. Even if the average is around £100, the number of cars on Britain's roads is over 33,000,000)
Anyway, I'm out of this thread, get it back on topic, I'm staying clear.

Ok, so we have a few younger teenagers on here but, on the whole, we can all act like adults so don't try and feed me any of this "family forum" rubbish.

If you like you can drive down there for me and messure it up and take photos and come take potos of mycar and by the time you have done all that you probly be half a weeks wages out of pocket. or are you the type of sinical person who gose out of there way to make a point as judjing by your posts you sound like one.
Its like your out for an argument, I can see the funny side of the thing like when i was stood out side my mini in the grass verge and loads of bmw minis seemed fine over the pot holes. I just laughted and felt like a ideot, however i was pleased at how many people offerd me a hand.
Bet you be the kind who just trys blameing other people for everything, dont get me wrong you could be an ok guy but you havent come acros like one here.
Just get the picture its just not worth it for the price of like £35 and an evening in the overals.
At end of the day i dident spot it it was round a partialy blind bend its just bad luck could happen to any of us at least i dident die or write the car off.
So lets move on and hope noone else comes looking for an argument because i realy dont even want to try.

then you replied
'Just like every other apathetic *******.'
how is that not calling someone a name.
as for the family forum rubbish there are people on the forum of 13,14,15 certainly not the age of an adult so its obviously not rubbish.
as for the amount of cars and cost of road tax is irrelivant there obviously is a problem with not being able to afford to repair the roads or why would they be as they are right now? any money that can be saved to fix the roads is very welcomed in my books.
i know you said you wasnt coming back on here but i dont know how you can say you didnt directly call anyone anything the evidence is clearly there that, that is exactly what happened

I think Joe has done his bit if he's reported it to the land owner. Even if you wanted to claim it isn't always the case that you'd get damages. You have to accept some responsibility for the risks you take. A lot would depend on whether you paid to use the road. If you pay then the provider is saying it's suitable for service they are offering to sell, such as driving on in a road legal car without damaging it.
It would be interesting to see where it failed.
where the ball joint failed ?
i belive it happend in this order
It ripped the nylock nut off the tie rod pulling it out of its mount.
It broke the cup/cap into four bits i have three ones missing.

One thought, was the original nut up to the job, if it was the wrong grade or over tightened it wouldn't have helped. I've seen tie bar lugs ripped off subframes, haven't actually seen a tie bar fail like yours.

Might depend on the manufacturer, it could be metric or unf.

Ill get some pics up when i get it fixed ordering parts tonight, since uni part dident have anything today when i was working.
Im going to buy the mini spares tie bar kit since i cant see nuts for it any where. Looks metric but un sure.
And on inspection a few minutes ago, looks like the threads are not to bad so may be the nut wound its self off, how erver driverside ok and the nut is still there on that "nylock nut", would also explane me not being able to find the bugger at the seen i found all the other bits. And the fact that it started pulling to the left about a week ago but i though that was cause i tracked it up at work in a rush a few days before.
Oh and every nut was tourqed up correct, when i converted it to manual and then the front was all double cheaked. so cant be over tightening or anything.
who knows ahy
Looks like im going to have some spare tie bars. and im ditching the polly bushes on the tie bars any way.
