Hey Guys,

I have a 1997 mini cooper mpi

I am thinking about spacing the wheels with the kits from mini sport.

i am looking at 19mm for the rear and 10mm for the front.

Are there any obvious implications to doing this, such as extra load on the bearings etc..

any help would be great .. cheers guys

got it in one

spacers are only really for moving the wheel out for extra clearance on wheels with the wrong offset

Load on bearings isn't such an issue: the wheels carry the car afterall and it's much heavier and wider.

It could create a bit more leverage on the studs and bearings leaning hard through corners, but more important is out how it effects offset - big offsets create leverage on the steering that make the car steer itself and ruin the handling. Ideally, you want the centre of the tyres to remain in the same place as the on the wheels the car was designed with.

I agree, had 1" spacers on mine (rear only) for over 2 years and had no issues whatsoever.
