See pic below.
I need to remove the extension rod on the later type rod change remote control gear system.
Haynes manual says "where extension rod meets selector shaft, drift the roll pin out"

How do I drift a roll pin out????

Put the car in 3rd gear and with the right size drift (you can buy them for it) knock it out. They take a bit of doin sometimes and it can be awkward to get a good swing at it with a hammer, but it will come...

you want a 3/16 parallel punch, try halfords or your local tool shop

i've always found it easier to knock out in reverse gear.

if in an emergancy you can use a large nail and hacksaw the end flat (but best to use the proper drift for the job) dont be tempted to use a punch as the taper expands the roll pin and makes it tighter !

I always do it this way. Netural gear, clamp a pair of mole grips on the gear change rod, so that the weight of them twist the rod clockwise and then tap it out.

Siggy
