Does anyone know about or race in this championship? I cant really find out much info. Do the cars have to be ex race cars or road cars modified for the championship? Are they racing in 2011, if so what are the dates?

This is all i can find

I'd love to go and watch!

the cars have to be to appendix k regulations, which are basically regulations that keep the cars to so called period modifications.
you can run and model of the mk1 mini from minor to cooper s. But to be competitive you will need a swiftune engine and box combination which is atleast 6k, and all the other stuff. These cars sell for around 20-40k depending on history and More importantly level of preparation.
I have built a few cars that compete to the same appendix k regs but not minis, its tough to do and there is millions of grey areas in the regs. Dont go there if you dont have a very big budget (40k to build potentially) and lots and lots of racing knowledge. Driving them is a completely different story too.

Thanks for the info. I've done various forms of mini racing in the past and I race a Metro in mg metro cup at the moment so i am fully aware of whats involved with all the aspects of racing and costs and what not, i have been toying with the idea of racing my 970s in the under 1000cc catagory. (if its eligabe of course) as it looks like a great championship.

Having Worked at meetings with these cars there. You are correct that its brilliant. but You will probably be the only non 1275 there. Racing in this form is a different level to club motorsport. these guys spend serious money and time on the cars. I mean serious.
The championship numbers have been low this year. But if you are interested in racing a mini then why not look to something like the hscc classic touring car championship, more variety in cars and cheaper entries etc.
The masters class includes many big names such as nick Swift himself to give you an idea of competition and budgets.

If you need any in depth info pm me.

It's a great championship, the cars are stunning, not just the Minis. Nothing better than watching them on a Sunday morning at Brands Hatch, excellent series.
