Hey everyone!

Im currently looking for a classic mini cooper (red with white roof) im living in germany at the moment but am moving back to the uk in January and have about £1700 (max) (maybe a little bit more if i really like it ;)) to spend :D. i have been looking around the usual places but its a bit hard to explain my situation to people and them then willing to hold on to the the car untill next year (Jan 26th) when i could collect it.

So basicly if anyone has a Cooper to that rough spec and is looking at selling it soonish i am interested!!

I would prefer the paint and body work to be as rust free and non scabby as possible (i know how hard it is so im not looking for a pristine example) i would also like it to be as original as possible. Also a carb model (i have hurd they are easyer to work on?)

am i asking too much for my money?
i dont think so but would like some advice (im new to mini's)

sorry about spelling :S its not my strong point

Luke

You won't get much for £1700 that doesn't need major work. My grandson paid £1660 last year for a 1997 MPI which has needed a full body restoration including new wings, front panel, screen lower rail and scuttle, A-panels, outer sills, etc. It is just ready to go for a full new paint job. It is also having a full engine rebuild as the original has done 90k miles, plus all new suspension bushes.
You might find one which does not need so much doing, but a rust-free 1990 Cooper 1275 (carb model) with re-built engine & box was bought by a friend of mine for £3500 recently. It just needed a bit of tidying up including a new rack gaiter, new CV joint gaiter, full tune-up, etc.
