Been doing some work on the headlights. What a massive pain in the balls it is!

First of all the golf headlights have these little lugs in that need to be removed in order to get them to fit the bowl.

Posted Image

So off they went!

Posted Image

Then to get the chrome ring to fit round them it needs to be cut so I then did that.

Posted Image

One headlight held in place!

Posted Image

Does not sit at all straight though I think I may gonna have to cut the backs of the headlight bowls out to get some more room. Also need to somehow get the headlight ring to fit this! Anyway I think now I'v done one I have a rough idea what to do better when I do the second one.

Thanks.

Right major update time although no pics.

I bought a set of W&P arches a few weeks back to go on. Fancied something different to the group 2'a I was gonna fit.

I have also got the brakes sorted for her as well now thanks to my GF's tax rebate and the mini spares group buy.

Then most importantly I have just put the deposit down on the engine. I have just got myself a stage 3 1293 from a user on her brand new and unused. I just need to rebuild a gear box too go on and get myself a camshaft.

I think that is about it for now. Been a rather expensive few weeks but has now given me enough to crack on with.

Thanks for reading. I'll get some pics up soon!

Wooo pictures!

First up the arches.

Posted Image

Then I got bored so did a teaser pic of the wheels.

Posted Image

Need to pic a colour for them as I dont want black. A creamy white/yellow is what I'm thinking.

Then the exciting stuff. The 1293 engine and stage 3 head. Just a few pics Southy on here sent me as that who I bought the engine off.

First thing to do is pick it up then I'm going to give it a repaint in silver. I also need to decided on a cam for it as well.

Anyway thats it for now.

Thanks.

I'm pretty pleased with it! Same spec I was going for I just need to pick a cam too use with it and paint it silver and rebuild a gearbox and she will be ready to drop it. Has saved me a bit of money and also means I have the engine I was gonna use in this car ready to start building up to go in the clubby.

Now just got an epic road trip to go pick it up. Not too bad though as either my dad will take me and we can stop and see my auntie at the same time as she lives up that way. Or my mate will take me and we can stop at Alton Towers while we are up that way. WIN WIN!

Todays job, arch fitting in the rain like a boss ha.

Did one side. The rear arch needs a little more trimming didn't bother with the other side as was getting to wet so started cleaning up some stuff.

Started rubbing down a weller. Thought it was pretty cool to find the old pin stripping under all the crap black paint.

Posted Image

Kinda decided rubbing it back was lots of effort so will get them shot blasted and started to clean up the drive shafts.

Thats about it for today.

Thanks

Thanks! Golf headlights are being a huge pain but should look the part. I'm really pleased with the engine as well. Just need to build a gear box for it and give it a paint.

Right then! It's Jenny's 29th Birthday today so thought this tread needed and update. Bought a boot lid for her at Combe and a pair of low back bucket seats. I have also spoke to OldSkoolLewis off here and he is gonna take the car off me to do a bit of body work and give her the respray. Just need to do a bit more saving first. So that's the update. I'll get some pics soon. Just a random update to say Happy Birthday Jenny.
