Did you get the hinge off the door?? if not first try a impact driver. If that's no good then you will need to drill the head of the screw off. Hopefully there will be enough of the stud left to use a pair of mole grips to remove them.

You could try and use an Easy out but if you want to use one then i recommend the Snap on ones. Be very careful though because if you break one in the screw you are screwed. The only way you will be able to get that out will be to use a Tungsten carbide burr.

No I didn't in the end. With having problems with the clubby this got put on the back burner for a bit. So I never did get round to doing it. Now I'v got it back I want to crack on and get some stuff done to it. Going to Stanford today has given me a surge on motivation as well. I'll drag the doors out and have ago at it. They still need reskining as well.

Thanks for the advice.

Right got stuck straight in. I started to remove the soundproofing of the floor. I'd seen on project on here before people has said it was a ass ache and my god they were not lying. I'll be glad when that job is finished! My head is pounding from all that banging inside the empty shell.

You can use a heat gun to soften that stuff up and lift off with a paint scraper.

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately I don't own a heat gun though which is a pain. May see if I can borrow one from somewhere if it will make things easier.

Been out removing more stuff off the floor. One side is now done!

After doing that I decided to to the other side another day. The banging gets quite annoying lol. So I thought I'd ty out one of the wheels that are going on her out with an arch to see what it looks like.

I think they go quite well. Seeing as the wheel is hanging quite a bit and the arch isnt completely flat to the arch it will poke out just a little more.

Thanks for reading and Im now off for a Nandos. Laters!

I'm thinking of selling of a load of parts I have for this. I dont think I want to go down the while retro rally car now. Its done too much. I think I may do a similar thing I'v done to the clubby and try and do something a little different. I have a few idea but well shall see what happens.

Rear subframe is almost off now! Next task is make a start on removing the front one and borrow a thin spanner so I can take the rear shocks off. I also picked up the 1275. It had only done 2500 miles since it was rebuilt then was stripped down again as I believe the guy used the gear box for a different engine so I need to buy a 1275 gearbox for it but as it was free I cant really complain. While building it I'm going to have a little play with the engine and fit a nice stage 3 head and a cam of some sort. Maybe a 276 or or 286. Not really looked in to it all that much. Nothing to laying though. Its a daily so need to be practical but give it a little bit more poke. Now I just need to build up some motivation to crack on and start building it.

Thanks. I'll update it with some pics soon!

I used a 286 cam daily in my 1380 for around a year and a half, they're not that bad.

Cars coming along well mate.

Yea I'v been told I don't really want to go any higher then a 286 in a daily. I'll look in to it a bit more before I buy one anyway. I'm not desperate for it yet. Need to get the body work finished before I worry about the engine anyway. I'm hoping this summer now I'm working full time I should get alot more done to her with the extra funds. I'd like her ready for Beaulieu 2013. That was the first I show I took her to when I bought her and I'd like it to be the first show I take her too after she restored.

Right this happened today!

Posted Image

I made a start on removing the front one as well so that should also be off Sunday. I then started removing the soundproofing off the other side of the floor. A job I had been putting off for a while.

On a down note though while removing the rear subframe I noticed my rear arches are rather rotten. I poked a while in one side so I think new ones of these will be in order soon and I may just get a boot floor while I'm at it too. This sucks a bit as I thought the welding was all dine now but I'm glad I found it now and not after I had it painted.

Thats all folks!

Its better to find it now rather than later. Boot floors are not difficult to change its just the removing and cleaning up that's a pain.
