Hi,
I have a john cooper sport on an M plate. I have recently fitted a new exhaust sytem to my mini and suddenly have the most annoying sound at the back of my car, when driving along, usually putting the throttle down theres a horrible noise coming from the back inside my car, any ideas of what it could be i dont no if it could be my speakers? but it wasnt doing it before i got my exhaust? the noise is like and annoying loud, sharp, quick taping noise as if a stone is taping a plate of metal rapidly?

Sorry tryed to go into as much detail as possible.
Please help.

Thanks

Is the exhaust tapping on the body anywhere. Silencer to body clearance can be very small and it's easy for a 'hit' to occur. It may happen when you push the pedal down as the engine will cause the exhaust system to shift slightly.
I once had a very annoying noise from the back of my car, but it went away when the mother-in-law got out >_<

If your main pipe is a tad too long the silencer box might be touching the rear subframe when you have your foot on the pedal.

Have a quick looksy underneath from the back of the car along the exhaust and check there is some clearance between that and the body

Give it a wobble, it should move freely without hitting anything, make sure the cat has enough clearance aswell
