Right the other day at work I was driving to my next job in the howling rain and there was an articulated lorry with LED ligts on the trailer, I thought how good they looked and how bright. Is there any way I can fit LED bulbs all round to my mini and if so where from?

I would need two headlamp bulbs
two side lamp bulbs
two front fog lamp bulbs
two spot lamp bulbs
two front indicator bulbs
two side indicator bulbs
two rear indicator bulbs
two rear tail/brake light bulbs
two reverse light bulbs
and one rear fog light bulb

Is this possible?

many thanks in advance, also if you've got such a setup fitted to your mini please post some pics.

You will need:
2x501 (clear)
2x501 (amber)
2x380 (red)
2x382 (white) (or one white one red if doing a reverse to fog conversion)
4x382 (amber)

spot lamp and front fog lamp are halogen bulbs like headlights so cannot be LED

Although I think a decent set of Halogen / Xenon h4's would be better >_<

thanks for the quick reply, for the rear fog lamp do I just need a red 382? also with the front fog/spot lamps are there any bulbs that you could recomend that would match the brightness and intensity allong with the colour? if not it might look a bit odd with white headlamps and yellow tinged spot/fog lamps

Yer just a red 382 for the rear fog.

halfords extreme brilliance bulbs are very white as apposed to yellow tinged, buy one get one free aswell at the moment.

My question is can I get LEDs for the centre speedo? The only bulbs I can seem to find are the normal bulbs from Minispares.

Cheers, and sorry again for the hijack.

LED's are becoming more commercially available for automotive use. They can also be fairly easily DIY built for the specific use if you are handy with a soldering iron. Particularly with the direction indicators, you have to be certain that the 'new' LED bulbs are consuming the same amount of power as the 'original' bulbs or your flashers (direction indicator and hazard) may not work correctly. The amber indicator bulbs on that site consume either 4 or 6 watts while the original incandescent bulb consumes 21 watts. If you are handy with electronics, you can simply build electronic flasher units to replace the original mechanical ones but you lose the 'sound' of the flasher and also lose the safety factor where the mechanical flasher does not flash if a bulb burns out. You also want to use red LED's behind a red lens and Amber LED's behind an amber lens- white LED's won't give you the right colour, turning red lenses to pink. LED's are also available to replace dash lights but I don't have a link handy. Depending on the LED used in the dash, you may need to put resistors into the line to get the power right for that LED (and possibly tone down the amount of light it is emitting).

Which ones to use for fog and spotlights ? In the link mentioned above it says H4 for foglights but I also found H3 for foglights like this : http://www.ebay.co.u...#ht_3530wt_1413
I also noticed that the Mini's have a little wire to it like this : http://www.ebay.co.u...3#ht_501wt_1081

Which one is it now ? Is it the same for spotlights ?

Do I have to use a 36mm festoon for licenseplate and interior light on my MPI ?
Which ones for side lights ?

Dont forget that you will need to tell your insurance as the LED lights are technically not legal for road use on a Mini..:s
