Hi, I did not know if it was mandatory or just polite to say Hi?

I Have not got a mini but think they are great - Just watched a few hill climbing abroad.

If you go to Malta hill climb on youtube there is one white one with a big rear wing - looks like it really shifts

(3:24 sec's in)

(It was not there when we were unfortunately - I wanted to look under the bonnet) - Not sure what motor he's running but baring in mind on film or when spectating cars look slow (as they are filmed from a distance up to the camera man) It's easier to judge performance against other cars. None of those cars are stock - some mildly tuned, some almost rally spec (more obvious on the start line)

We walked up that hill and it's probably the steepest hill I've ever walked up - At the weekend we filmed a group ? Toyota Celica 4wd = 400 plus HP that looked slower up that hill?

Anyway after I've shared my limited experience with you - I have some technical questions to post (hope you've had a nice weekend) xx

Really? what is KAD? - I was expecting something like a busa turbo (but it does not rev enough)

I expected it to be a lot more Hp than that considering some of the cars that went up that hill this weekend were space frame MK1 escorts with highly modified Cosworth engines etc..

Some of the cars run anything from 380hp /400hp (Suburau) - some cars at 600hp+ that's genuine. These guys were very modest - not like some on the road car scene. (That said I never did see that mini - other minis were clearly not that powerful on the day when we were there)Impressive all the same

I will to find out via the club ( for my own curiosity) - My mum has a place on one of the Islands so I joined up - Something to do when I visit LOL

Would love to have a road car like that or the MK1/2 escorts that sound like rally cars not on this film - Still wouldn't want engine rebuilds every 5 minutes as with some heavily tuned competition engines.

OK - GOOGLED THE KAD THING!!! - will hopefully get some more info. Was just curious as based on my basic understanding of cars, racing, photos and filming - first hand it looked pretty impressive.

this is what it is if any ones interested?

Dear xxxx the car in question is called mini doda. Named xxx for the guy that built it.
The car is a full chrome moly spaceframe powered by a Honda blackbird 1200cc unit. suspension is chrome moly wishbone front and swinging arms rear . uprights discs calipers steering rack and pedal box are all from a Lotus elise anti roll bars are fitted front and rear. LSD is a quaife sealed bike unit, drive is through the 6 speed box chain driven. Shafts are modified ford escort mk.4.
Body is all GRP , front end and rear mudguards are made by xxxx a local GRP guru.
The frame was ordered from UK after mini ace xxxxxxx put me in touch with ex. miglia xxxxxxx. It was built by Safety Devices based on the old Maguire super sallon's of the 80s, to take a KAD 16 valve engine from my previous Gr.5 mini.
The car has been racing since 2007 in hill climbs locally as well as circuit racing and Hill climbing in Scicily with a fair share of sucess.
I am today preparing it for the last round of the hill climb championship next Sunday.
This will be its last race with a normally aspirated engine ,
Next season the blackbird unit will be turbocharged.

If you want to see more pictures and video clips of mini doda look up xxxx on facebook or xxxxx team Malta or car club also on facebook.
Sorry I missed you at Gnejna, I was spectating from the top corner. Will not miss you next time.
