Hi,

Rover Mini Cooper 1.3i
1993

This is the only mini I have owned, so I want to know if all minis are like this.....

The blower fan for the windscreen demister / car heater is very noisey. Before I remove it to see if there is something stuck/rattling in it how quiet should it be? Are they always noisey? It blows air fine, just with a lot af rattle/noise.

Thanks for the help >_<

They are quite noisey, but shouldn't make a rattle.

Try holding parts of the nearby dash rail, or pushing the heater up when on to see if it's a loose screw/bolt somewhere near, or indeed the heater unit may be loose, I checked all this first when mine did this, it was a loose heater selection panel above. Loctite saved the day (other such compounds are available for sealing loose screws...).

Mine rattles ALOT so i tend to not use it much >_< It rattles in Off and on Screen so i just use it at Car - Currently though the rattle has been cured by some cloth shoved in it. I think its lose connection to the lower dash bar thing that makes it rattle.

I'll have a look to see if anything is loose. It is only noisey/rattles when on, in either car or screen positions. It is fine when off. That's why I thought it was fan related, but maybe the vibration from the bmotor spinning is rattling other bits.

lol, it is a joy at the moment, as this is my main concern, a few weeks ago I didn't care about this as there were far too many other bigger problems!!

90% of the time this is it.

The other rattle I've noticed is when vents fill up with rust!! >_<

Another mini with a rattling Air Fan i took it apart and cleaned it and seemed fine when you turn it on its very noisy like its rubbing against the side (it isn't)
but i took it all apart and the hamster wheels on the ends do pivot slightly i think the bearings or shaft has gone. any chance theres a solution or a place to get another one i looked on the usual sites and no luck thanks

sorry for bringing old theard up figured its better than making a new one saying the same stuff
