do you need a front window defoster to pass MOT?
im thinking about getting a aftermarket heater set up for my car
and theirs some that come with a defoster and some that don't
because i think the stock unit is ugly, i already put a new heater matrix in my stock unit
and it doesn't work to well in the cold, and i had a new heater valve at the head, new t-static,
3core radiator, water pump, i went the hole system, no air in the cooling system
now i got a straight thur billet one from dsn classic and
since im rebuilding my vehicle now i want to make changes before i put it back on the road
engine swap 998 to 1275

i dont have any heater/defroster whatsoever in my mini and never had any issues with MOTs. i dont use the car in the winter and wouldnt recommend running without some kind of defrosting system in the winter.

It's an SVA requirementif you're building a kit car etc, but not part of an MOT check....

generally aswell, having spoken to VOSA a bit about these IVA regs, they base most of them on the construction and use regulations and their consequent revisions, so i would imagine that not having a defroster would actually be illegal if your car was actually built with one orginally. I do know very early cars heaters were optional, but an 84 would have definately had one.
Is a defoster someone who takes your pint away?

Dont not have one in winter or the screand will ice up inside and out like mine did the other day. Bolted the heater in after brazeing my matrix up and its great now.
