After the awful experience of having my car Cat C'd by a careless van driver in August, and having Footman James a) move my car from one salvage yard to another without telling me, and b) picking my car up with a fork lift, wrecking the Stage 1 exhaust in the process, i have now received a letter from them, reminding me to renew my policy with them.

Even though i wouldn't renew with them anyway, the cheeky thing is they've rocketed my premium up from £750 fully comp, to £890 TPFT!

:)

Footman James are not worth the trouble, one year of low premium is not worth the hassle they've put me through.

That's one heck of a rise. Has your claim been fully sorted in your favour now? You sometimes get rises like this if the claim is not fully sorted as they will assume that you may still be liable and treat your renewal as if you've had a claim.

They did that to me as well... I had a 6 month battle with them after they moved my mini to a salvage yard, all ended in one of the managers making personal insults towards me and telling me she'd "make sure no one will ever insure me again" because I turned down an order for £270 for the value of my mini...

one week later I received a cheque for £3000 and the car was returned to me on a 16 car transporter over 200 miles all by itself :)

Classic car insurance?? my bottom!!!

I've received the full pre-accident value for the car (£1500) but the injury claim is still ongoing. I've yet to inform FJ that i'm claiming back the damage they did to the exhaust system.

The entire process has been a shambles.

Yep, i don't plan on staying with them, gonna give adrian flux a go. Footman James are generally just awful in their organisation and customer service.

Insurance has gone up so much in the last couple of years so you really have to shop about the best you can to get cover, around 40% for all of us.You soon know if you have a good one if you have to ever claim.I go for a high excess and low miles per year on my cars. Its not so bad at my age but i always go for daft cars to cover then wait for quotes. How much does this footman J. charge for a 20 year old in a full Race Scooby Turbo about 320bhp,check for fun and post back.Mine charge me far to much at 47 years old they never have come down much since 1991.Thought they were a H.P. company and i was buying another few cars of them. They also put the price up as i park it outside.

To be honest, after the way they've treated me today. I won't be recommending them to anyone and will be seriously thinking about whether its worth renewing my policy with them next year :goaway:

My insurance last year was £710 (and that was after I knocked them down a lot), this year it is £860, same policy etc etc, it's stupid! But customer service I can't fault, just the cost :goaway:

With many peoples insurance it has gone up approx 40% in the last year.Based on young drivers cover. So even if you have gained your 20% added discount your charge is still more than last year. They know you have to have it so often charge what ever they like.At 47 its one of the charges that is not bad for me but i still pay over the top because of the type of cars i love and they have also gone up.When young i would also get some insurance brokers laugh when i asked for cover on some cars and i would pay in one Cash payment in office, that shut them up.Another reason why i understand younger insurance problems that you all have.At my age its yes sir no sir with them. Many High rated top cars they take a week to check you out and your lifes driving history and the cars history before they will even offer cover at a fair price even at my age with specialised insurance Cover. The normal brokers will not cover some cars unless you want to pay 6-20g a year. :(

i haven't had an increase in price, i'm with footman james and last year, i was 20, just passed my test, 998, parked on the street was £680 with £75 excess (on top of a standard excess they have i think). then this year it was only £298. both are for TPFT with agreed value

Go to Peter James Insurance, they are great with me. :P

Oh and the premium was half of what Footman James quoted me at Bingley Hall, just 50m from the Peter James stand. Went back to see if they would match it but they refused to even try. :genius:

That sounds like their typical pretty disgraceful behaviour
