Well i need to know what insurance to get for when i pass my test, i want help on who is the best and cheapest to go for.

Right just one point to make, i know about Footman James, but there's a problem, i would like year's no claims really so they wont be able to meet to what i want.

I just want people to tell me what other cheap options to go for!

my friend who's 17 pays nearly £2000 for insruance on his 998 mini, I pay £725 for my insurance with footman james on a 850 though not for long and I was a bit gutted I couldn't get it cheaper. I think no claims bonuses are overated to be honest I've heard of plenty of 17 year olds passing their test getting cheaper insrunace than my with footjames and adiran flux. There's also a girl at work who just passed her test, she's 17 and pays £1800 for her fiat punto, the car only cost £300 :proud:

No claims are helpful though, my boyfriend's insurance was loads when he passed his test for a mini, and now with 2 years no claims it's 700, and that's not with footman james.

I just dont know who else to try with...

Well the only companys I'd recomend is footman james and adrian flux as apart from them, there isn't ONE cheap insurer, it all depends on a lot variables, RAC were giving me my next cheapest quote, the best thing to do is to try all the price compasrison sites and ring up all the companys in the mini mags and also in the yellow pages etc that's the only way. I have 1 years no claims bonus, my insurance was just over £1100 originally when I passed my test with the 1275, after a year I got this 850 mini and my cheapest quote is £1000 with 1 years no claims bonus, then £725 from footman james, if I got my 1275 mini insured as a 998 as it's registered as a 998 it would of still cost over £1200 with 1 years no claims bonus as it's gone up.

Insurance has all gone up again this year. When a younger driver you all get charged way to much a year even for a small car.It is best to try and build up your own No Claims bonus if you can afford to get the cover. As above said you need to look into covers like a project. When you have made a short list of best quotes phone them up.Quote all the dif. quotes to each one, they do come down.Find the one you like best and tell them its still a bit high and you will think about it.Leave them a few days and they should phone you with a better deal to get your custom.Go for only Driver and low miles per year,i always do that and save loads on my cars.If you work and use the car its more charge but tell them for cover. If you have a garage tell them, with some cars they insist, mainly Classics.I think many young couples end up sharing the car so they can both enjoy driving when younger.Good Luck.
The 998cc and the 1275cc do look similar, but not in a bad crash they check everything.Shape of head is a give away, but should pass a spot test with most.Numbers to on head unless you have changed them for MOT.At least you have some form of insurance for most driving issues. :proud:

Sorry, are you actually condoning the practice of trying to pass off a 1275 as a 998 for insurance purposes?? I certainly hope not, as not only is it illegal it highly irresponsible! But as this could be easily interpretated from that statement, for anybody thinking of trying to get a cheaper premium through dishonesty please do think again.....

Firstly there is no point paying out for invalid insurance as it's not worth having. Insurance companies employ specialist assessors and inspectors specifically to detect this type of fraud, so in the event of a substantial claim they will find out. Secondly do try to remember that motor insurance does not just cover the cost of motor repairs, but far more importantly it also covers injury compensation payments to third parties as well. If the worst were to happen and you were to cause a life long injury or disability to someone as a result of an accident (to an occupant of your own car, a friend or member of your family perhaps?) invalid insurance would result in you then being held personally responsible for the cost of their life long care and loss of earnings, which could of course run into many hundreds of thousands or more. A huge financial burden for you and even worse to think of someone failing to get the care and financial support they need, because of your inability to pay and ultimately due to your dishonesty!

Hope i put them off trying it with advice on how easy it can be caught. Not promoting crime. Many have no insurance because they do not know it.Rarther warn them first to save them the Law.Many do not know if they fit none standard wheels without putting them on cover no insurance.Same with all mods. Also 1275cc must have upgraded brakes from 998cc model.I do see your fair point to ask me mate. The young lady was the one i was advicing with good insurance ideas, the other i just spotted.it does take a lot of reading and study on good insurance covers and all the small print.Did you really get nicked for shop lifting when at school.LOL

Depends on how much it'll cost now to save later.
After the year Footman James will give you a letter stating you have been driving (hopefully accident free), many insurance companies will give a discount equal to a years no claims, and then you can build it up.

Footman James is not a bad idea for your first cover. They are good with young drivers prices.Plus you are legal.
No claims is worked out by each clean year you have not claimed at 20% off. That is a lot if you are paying £1000 or more. Most do that for three years until you have 60% no claims. Many do other deals but thats common as a basic guide, always check with the company. After five years many will give you fully comp. with protected no claims bonus allowing one or two fair claims per year. There are so many insurance companys to look at on the WEB,bit of a prodject.Even at my age its easy to slip up.A few years ago i had a car rest and did not cover any for over two years and when i fancied an Audi VR6 Coupe i was told i have lost my lifes collection of top no claims bonus and had to pay full amount, that was a gutter and cost me.When older Classic insurance is the one to go for as soon as you can.You would be shocked just how cheap it is if they will take you on.Even they have got very picky on new customers and the proof and all details they must have, even the receipt of purchase, photos, clock miles photo etc...To many would use a club over priced value, but they would say its legal to cheat. They always think young people have ICE so they also want to know about that to charge you more.I liked loud amped music when young to.
Now we are in Insurance area you will only get fair honest advice.
