Hi all,

Just about to get my first Mini, a 1969 Morris Mini 1000, 52,000 miles and 2 owners. Adding to my collection of old stuff - '67 Amazon. '64 Beetle Convertible and an old Fordson tractor. Can't wait! Needs a few jobs as it's not been run for a while.

Make sure you don`t catch your right knee on the ash tray in the back.

This is a painful experience and results in a dented roof.  :)

Welcome on the MK2 the exhaust pipe is very narrow so take care as much as you love it.If you are technically stuck, get a mate to start car and you should be out like a spud.
A very good find, low miles and owners.Free Oil the pistons with plugs out, leave a few days then turn over slow if its been standing some time a nice rock in gear to.Should have it running well in no time, body looks like new. :)

Right. Day off work, dad's Discovery borrowed, mate's trailer being collected in the morning, jump leads, fresh petrol and tool box at the ready. Oh and cash in hand. Collecting the old Mini tomorrow. Feel a bit like a kid the night before Christmas.....

Good luck today. For some reason anyone who likes tractors seems to have an affinity with minis too. Maybe so many tmf'ers live or grew up on farms. The guy who looks after Huey restores tractors. Always trust a man with a tractor, unless he's a con-tractor on a machine that chews up both verges at once. Sorry, rambling again.
Anyway, let us know how you get on.

Could be Teapot. As they use them for work they have to fix them all year round over the years.New tractors are very high tech. When about 23 i helped doing one old tractor rebuild and it was easy just heavy parts in a barn to work in.Minis are old hat to fiddle with to.Makes us feel younger.I also find newer cars a head full to try and fix.
Looking forward for this new old classic Car thread to look at to,hope the old suspension pumps up if its a one or two.O and merry xmas both. :)
