When starting my 94 cooper monte carlo i aways pull the choke out & then push it back in when i think its warmed up. Today i didnt bother & it started sweet as usual. So while it was running i pulled the choke out & it made no difference to the running. I pushed it in, pulled it out & there was absolutely no change in engine tone or anything. I only recently brought the car so still dont really "know" it. My mini's in the past would rev a little louder when the choke was on. Should i be worried? or is it because its just a fantastic little car! on tick over the revs stay just above 10,000 on the rev counter. :)

have a look at the carb while someone operates the choke, look for movement, chances are its not connected. i hope you mean it ticks over at just above 1,000 rpm and not 10,000 rpm :) lol

if it started from cold in this weather with out using choke I would assume it's running

I didn't think 94 coopers had chokes? Are you sure its got a carb and is not injection? The choke should be on the left hand side of the control panel with the heater control valve on the right.

Oh my god! so mine might not even have a choke!?! the end of the pull/knob is kinda damaged so i cant see anything on it! i just presumed it as the choke because its in the same place as my 3 former mini's chokes were! I need to find this out dont i.

Easy way of checking is to adjust your heater valve under the bonnet and see if the cable moves position in the car. If it does then it must be your heater cable!

Is it an injection car?
If so, it wont have a choke.

Agreed.... 1994 Cooper = SPi (so no carb and no choke)....... Right hand knob = heater control, (not choke!) DOH!!!

So the real question is... When you pulled the ahem..."choke".... you may not have noticed a change to the engine.... but did you notice your feet getting mysteriously warmer?? :dontgetit:
