Model: Mini Mayfair
Year:1982
Description of problem (please be as in depth as possible):indecator flasher unti keeps burning out and ive had to buy loads



Any non-standard parts that might be involved with the problem?

Are you buying your flasher units from Halfords? If so then that's your problem, get a good quality one elsewhere.

I had the same problem and I got a Metro electronic one from a Lucas supplier........... :)

it could also be a bad earth somewhere in the indicator wiring circuit, i had a similar problem, new flasher unit cured the problem for a few hours, n then it burnt itself out, turned out to be a front indicator wire shorting on the bodywork causing the flasher unit to burn out! might be worth a check!

mk1leg has the answer....

I went through a phase of burning out loads, in one day I got through 3....

Changed to an electronic version and the problem goes away....

i think its a bad earth as they have sorted them selfs out now but were would the earth be for the indecators as its also nocking out the heated rear window when it goes. the indecator have just a live wire and no earth
