I had my Maniflow system set up on the rollers and got 55bhp
That gave me about an 85mph top speed on flat and with a slight hill it'd go well off the clock
It came off the line really well too
Have you had your mini rolling road tuned?

Poor acceleration and can't get over 75mph?? Definitely something amiss. You should be able to get over 75mph with a standard 998. A stage 1 kitted 998 should go above that easily.
Did you have it rolling roaded when it was fitted? WHen was it last serviced?

swap it for a 1275,1293, 1330, 1380 engine.
People spend loads on a 998 when they only get the same performance as a 1275....
And if insurence is an issue, you need to be asking how much more for the mods on the 998.

JCG conversion, which means twin hs2's, Stage 2 Janspeed head, new inlet and outlet manifolds, dont' know if it includes a new exhaust? But I would presume this would be pacier than a stage 1 998. However, the maximum speed I've reached in it is around 60. The accelerator pedal is quite stiff in comparison to my friends, in comparison it feels like you could blow his, whereas mine is quite stiff? does it need lubing or is there something up with the carb?
My car also has trouble starting after it's been running for a while, the engine turns but doesn't seem to catch, and sometimes when it does, the engine just splutters and dies. I'm sensing a carb problem?
Cheers in advance

a stage 3 head (£400) and twin carbs (£300 brand new) will cost u more than a 1275 mg metro engine alone.
u could just buy a mg metro engine and leave it at that. there 69bhp standard!
i have one, mated to a GT gearbox and it flies to 60, im only losing top end because my damn clutch slips,
Some of the chaps make a valid point, why not try a 998 turbo?

998 thermostat points towards the radiator, 1275 points towards the grilleplus if ur that bothered dont tell them, its hard to tell the difference jsut from looking anyway!
998 heater tap mounting bolts line-up with the grille, 1275 ones are aimed more at the alternator
it's EXTREMELY easy to tell the differences between a small-bore, and a large-bore, plus the engine ID numbers wont match up. If you cause a major crash (like, into a porsche!) then the insurance Co will do as much as possible to avoid having to pay out for your car as well, which may mean sending out someone who knows minis
For the sake of £100, just tell the insurers!
mind you - if it's going to be the same engine size, and it wont look all that different to standard.............
