Hi,

Soon I'll be looking to get some new tyres for the new wheels I'll be putting on the Viva. The tyres have to be 175/70R13 which gives me a few choices, but I've no idea who will provide rubber that gives a good level of grip in dry and wet conditions, but at the same time is fairly durable, i.e. not as soft as Yoko A008's (I think).

Every tyre I've found so far ranges from £30-40ish

Some choices:
Avon ZT5
Continental ECO3 (had continentals on my supalights and they were great in the dry, but complete poo in the wet!)
Dunlop SP30
Goodyear GT3
Michelin E3B
Pirelli P3000
Toyo 350
Toyo F8
Yoko AA01 Adrive

Any opinions?

Thanks :)
Oli

A008's wear ok, but I don't think they're available in 175/50/13 any more.

Wasn't looking at them as an option. They're not available in my size at all, but just as an example to say I don't want anything too soft that doesn't last all that long, well that's what I've heard about one of the Yokos in mini sizes anyway

A048R's

A539 is the best 13" Yoko you'll get for the road.

Tyres, well its often down to quality and how much you would like to spend. Most fitters will offer a fair price if you buy all four at the same time.I do like Pirelli Brand.Goodyear and Avon are ok.I often go by price then drive acordingly to what i have had fitted, also thinking how long they will last me.Avon should last on a Viva and look good at a fair cost.So i will say Avon. :) They are a pretty good all rounder.

As they're all roughly the same price, that doesn't really come in to it. I'd like to get what would be considered the best all rounder in terms of grip in the dry and the wet, as long as the compound isn't so soft it has a less than average lifespan.

I understand it's going to be difficult to get opinions on the individual tyre as I doubt too many people run 175/70R13s, which is why I was more asking about the manufacturer. I've got another few months before the wheels are done anyway, so plenty of time to decide.

I've just fitted some yoko A Drives to my golf and theyre great! Grip the road very well in dry and greasy condition and they're quiet on motorway driving aswell.

I've heard that Toyo Proxies wear quite quick too?

I thought they ran on rails. My mate put Firestone on his years ago.Avon might be the make. Many fitted them on cars in the 80s.
