I am selling a camera on ebay and I have had 3 different emails now from people abroad wanting to buy the camera for more than its worth.
Is this a new scheme or is it for real?
Any help will be very useful
Thanks

I would say you are safe 99% of the time - If they pay via paypal make sure the money is actually there and not "pending". I would be wary of people saying they have not received the item however as 10 times out of 10 ebay and paypal side with the buyer. Check the potential buyers history and go form there.

Just beware that they might say they haven't received the item, then you are out of pocket and have no item!

As long as I withdraw the money from paypal then they can't claim it back can they?
Yes they can, if your account is empty then paypal will refund the buyer anyway and then just debit your paypal account, effectively making you overdrawn. You will then owe payapl the cash and they will either ask you to add funds to your account to cover the defecit or just automatically take it from your credit card.

When selling to oveseas buyers always send by a tracked (and signed for) delivery service, that way you are insured against loss and the buyer can not really claim for non delivery. I sell loads of stuff to overseas buyers and rarely have any problems. As for teh cost of sending, as the buyers pay for teh shipping there is no more cost for me than if I sent it to a UK buyer.
